At first, it’s like any other day. I awakened, showered, brewed my morning cup of joe, and that is when I first saw…outside, there was nothing…no moonlight, stars, or anything! It was like an endless black void of space. My mind was racing; Where was I…What is going on…Why is this happening? I caught myself and thought that maybe it is just extremely dark outside because the lights are not working.
Standing there in front of the window, I carefully sipped my coffee…cautious not to burn my tongue. You just moved into your new apartment, in a very big city. After a year of this life, you have almost given up hope of making any friends; be it at work or any other means. Every time you get close to someone and show the real you they recoil in fear or think you weird. You feel very lonely. After looking for a peaceful place to spend your time, you find a quiet diner on the outskirts of town. It may be small and dingy but it is homey. The waitress is very attractive. I awoke this morning with a feeling of peace. It was eerie. My coffee maker emitted a familiarly delicious aroma. My eyes crusted over with the dust of sleep would not function properly until the first cup of rejuvenation had been ingested. I stumbled from my room down the long green carpeted hallway, Cursing the day from under my breath. The sunshine danced happily across the floating speckles in the air and leaped from the window sill to the carpeted living space. Somethings should be forced to wait until the afternoon, I thought.
